About Ado
Ado Matheson is a passionate Celtic singer and songwriter from the Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Inspired by his family tradition of writing and Music.
His beloved late Grandfather Angus Matheson
(Aonghas Macmhathain) was crowned ‘Celtic Bard’ in 1950 for his writing.
His late father Alasdair Matheson was also a very accomplished Gaidhlig Singer and Songwriter from the Isle of Uist.

Ado’s Story
Ado was brought up on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. His father was a Gaelic Singer and Songwriter performing at concerts and gatherings throughout Scotland and his Grandfather was crowned the Celtic Bard in recognition of his writing in the 50’s. Ado has been playing music since he was a young boy going on to perform as Singer and lead guitarists with various rock bands during his teenage years on the island. Over the years Ado has written his own material and performed his music live at many venues and art centres. He is a passionate performer and his songs are a collection of vivid memories, dreams and reflections inspired by the powerful images and emotions of his homeland on the Western Isles of Scotland.

To date Ado has recorded two Albums.
Ado has written many new songs since then although not yet recorded. Alongside his own songs he also performs many popular cover songs and often plays to support charity events.
Ado has played at many venues over the years including supporting Runrig, Marianne Faithful and Davy Spillane and at 10 Downing Street in support of Drugfam. He has also played to raise funds for his local group of The Compassionate Friends.
Ado’s other Son Hans is a very talented Actor and Singer Songwriter. He has been a great support to Ado in both live and recorded events. Hans made a music documentary with and about Ado on his utube channel. He also facilitated their Ceilidhs put on by Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar during lock down.
